When a citizen journalist decided to exercise his curiosity over a woman being questioned by police at Los Angeles International Airport, he got a whole lot more than he bargained for.
The June 14 episode began when Tony Vera, who videos life in and around Los Angeles for his website, saw a hijab-wearing Muslim woman detained by police. She was handcuffed while they questioned her and searched her luggage.
Once she was free to go, he wanted to know what had happened. At first she put him off with questions and then with sarcasm, at one point raving about “lesbians and gays.”
